Park time

Usually when Brody and I go to the park with the moms group, he just hangs out in his stroller, which to be honest is quite nice, since I don't have to worry about him eating any sand! Recently we started a mommy and me class and while we were at the park I thought it was time for Brody to explore the park a little more. We started at the swings, which was our first and last stop. He absolutely loved the swings! He just leans back and relaxes, letting the wind blow through his peach fuzz. I thought he'd enjoy the slides, but he was only interested in the swings. So for those of you who are at the same park we are, sorry, I think we're about to monopolize all the swing time!

On the move

After about a month of dilligent efforts, Brody has finally figured out how to crawl! He loves being able to move around and get whatever toy he wants. I thought it would be great once he started moving around, and it is, but he thinks the funnest part of crawling is to crawl all over me when I'm on the floor with him. So we're working on crawl-proofing the house and hopefully that will tide us over for a while, except for the tiny little fact that he's already pulling himself up on everything so he can hurry up and start walking. Hmm... this boy sure likes to move.

A perfect day

These past couple of weeks have been amazing! The weather has been so warm and sunny, making it perfect for outdoor activities! This weekend we went on a walk at the beach which was so relaxing and peaceful. The warm sun, the breeze, the salty air, it was just a perfect day! During our little stroll we saw a couple groups of dolphins swimming along, which was pretty cool to catch. It's so fun to see kids spot dolphins, they get so excited to tell their parents! Although truthfully I pretty excited to be one to spot them before Justin!

I really couldn't believe how clear it was. PV was so pretty and occasionally you can see over to Malibu, but this weekend you could see way past Malibu (we actually couldn't get it all in one shot), so we has to snap a picture! I just couldn't believe how beautiful the day was! I can't wait for Justin to have some more time off so we can do some more stuff together. And Brody? He loved the walk and just chilled in his stroller, enjoying the sun. Sounds like a California baby to me!

Dancing or boxing?

My friend Lisa had warned me that when people box on the wii it looks like their dancing. Well the other night Justin's family came over to play the wii and Alyssa challenged Clarke to a boxing match. It was hilarious to watch them 'duck and jab', it totally looked like they were dancing! They were both really getting into it, so it was pretty funny to watch. Unfortunately we broke out the camera a little late so we only got the tail end of the match. It seems like the wii isn't just entertaining for those play, but those spectating as well! Who says video games don't count as family time? Hey Alyssa, better luck beating your grandpa next time!

The Grove

On Thursday Justin's school closed the lab for testing so he was able to have another day off. We went to the Grove in LA (by Beverly Hills) which was really cool since it has lots of places to eat and tons of shopping! The stores had everything from Michael Kors, to Anthropology, to Gap and Children's Place. We met up with Justin's friends Pat and Amy from school and had some lunch together and walked around a bit. We were about to take a picture by this cool fountain, and these foreign tourists came up and asked us to take their picture -or so we thought. Instead the group wanted the five of us in their picture! I'm assuming they just wanted some Americans in their shot, since it's pretty obvious we're not famous or anything. It's a little weird to think that a group of people half way across the world have pictures of us! Anyway, we had a really fun day just being out and about. This semester Justin has been super busy at school, which make me and Body miss him even more when he's gone. But with a few days off it was definitely fun to spend some time together!

Natural History Museum

Justin had a couple days off last week so we decided to make the most off it by taking in a few activities. On Monday we went to the Museum of Natural History next to USC. I was super excited to go since I'm a big fan of dinosaurs, and was so upset when we got there and read a sign telling us the dinosaur hall is closed for remodeling! They did have these two dinosaurs in the entrance, which were a tribute to the triceratops which will soon be leaving the museum. The dinosaurs are huge, it's so cool! So here's some pictures of our day.
The museum has a discovery center which was pretty fun to explore. This top picture is Justin checking out the teeth on some animals. Later he was super interested in all the bugs and insects they had on display. I would have taken a picture, but I really couldn't stomach to look at all the bugs. Although Justin said they were pretty cool.
The discovery center also had a bunch of furs on display which were a little creepy. I thought the skunk one would look appropriate since we do live near the marsh! It made me realize that even if I were to become rich and famous one day I still wouldn't wear furs!!
This last picture is the fossil of a triceratops head which was found in Montana recently. A group of paleontologists are working to preserve the fossil so it can be shipped across country to go on display. And seriously how cool would that be to work as a paleontologist!
